Connecticut NASA Education Collaborative
October 1998 CNEC is open for business! Be sure to stop by our Launch Area to check out the special events offered during the week of October 25th-30th!
Overview

In a time of shrinking budgets, the aggregation of resources along common threads becomes imperative. The goal of the Connecticut NASA Education Collaborative, or CNEC, is to unite and coordinate these threads in an effort to maximize their collective impact.
Specifically, the CNEC is a collective partnership among leading state educational institutions, informal education science centers, mathematics, science & technology teacher organizations, and the Connecticut state department of education. There are 5 major goals of the CNEC:
- Collaborate with school districts, (NASA's) business partners, college and universities, informal science centers and other educational service providers in an effort to improve science, mathematics and technology K-16 education
- Promote coordinated goals and missions of NASA Education as they relate to Connecticut's systemic reform efforts and state curriculum frameworks
- Create and sustain a system of NASA Educator Resource Centers for the dissemination and training of appropriate NASA support curriculum and programs. These ERC's will be strategically located at three locations within Connecticut
- Coordinate and develop a unified action plan to involve, inform, and unite the business community, NASA and non NASA related, to facilitate science, mathematics, and technology education throughout the state
- Develop career opportunities for Connecticut's emerging student population. Urban, as well as rural areas will be focused on as areas of special interest
