Using Technology to Teach Technology

Earthquake Testing
One of the interesting things we were exposed to this week was earthquake technology and seismology. A natural correlation was made to physical science and wave theory involving nodes, harmonic oscillation, etc. earthquate tower structure Except, instead of just drawing these waves on paper, we tested physical structures on a variable controlled vibrating plate. One could also tie in geology correlations with respect to foundation studies, and bedrock type, etc.

Diane was quite animated this week, and an integral part of our team. Her warm smile provided continuing encouragement, and her robotic personality never wore out. Here you see Diane programing a mechanical robotic arm. Diane portrait NASA, as well as commercial industry, makes extensive use of robotics, and the Thodes provided several experiences in this area. It literally was a plethora of R2D2, and CP3P0 types in the laboratory.

Again, Brad and Terry Thode provided authentic, and critical thinking experiences for us to take back to our students. They're demeanor throughout the entire workshop was upbeat, informational, and relevant. Thank you both!
